PCGS this Saturday - November 17th
The Archaeology of a Mexican Family and Cemetery Headstones - November 17th Meeting
We have two interesting programs for you this Saturday. The first program will be a presentation by Homer Thiel from the Tucson-based Desert Archaeology. He will talk about the excavation of the Francisco Solano Leon and Ramona Elias Farmstead. Our second presentation will be about the cemetery headstones. Leslie Carney will be our presenter for the second session.
As always, some of our members will be meeting for lunch at 11:30 am in the cafeteria. Please join us for some pre-meeting genealogy social time.

Mark Lowe is a full-time professional genealogist, author, and lecturer and researches primarily in original records and manuscripts throughout the South. He also serves as a Course Coordinator for the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG) and Samford University’s Institute for Genealogical and Historical Research (Research in the South) and Director of the Regional In-depth Genealogical Studies Alliance (RIGS Alliance), learning sessions and hands-on research focusing on original documents and manuscripts at regional archives. Mark has worked on several genealogical television series including African American Lives 2, Who Do You Think You Are? appearing on a recent episode featuring Lionel Richie. DNA Meeting on autosomal DNA this Saturday!
The DNA Special Interest Group meets next Saturday, November 10 from 1-3 PM at UMC. The room is being negotiated. Probably it will be in Room 2117, but if changed, a new email will be sent. Paul Duffey will present information on autosomal DNA, which is different from Y and mt DNA. He will illustrate a success story by one of our members using autosomal DNA.
