Roots Magic SIG Meeting March 1

The Roots Magic Support Group will meet on March 1 from 1 to 3 pm in the UAMC Hospital in Dining Room 2500D off the Hospital Cafeteria.
Glen Maguire will be showing us his database and how he records sources, etc.
Be sure to bring any questions or problems you have.
The February group made some decisions to put some interest into our meetings. We will meet again on May 3 and then will meet again on September 6 an November 1. We will not meet over the summer.
Our format will be to either show portions of a webinar, have an individual demonstrate a database or study some topics from the manual.
Please let me know if you are going to be in attendance.

I usually get there around 11:30 and have lunch before our meeting.

Family Tree Maker Special Interest Group to meet after general meeting

The Family Tree Maker SIG will meet next Saturday, February 15, from 3-5 PM in UMC Rooms 2500 C & D (off the south end of the cafeteria) immediately following the monthly meeting.

We will be reviewing the Person Tab in the People Workspace.  There will also be time for questions and problem solving.

We have two wonderful presentations for you Saturday, October 15th.  Our first program is  about the Library of Congress by Leslie Carney followed by followed  by  Verifying and Documenting Your Resources presented by Jodi Strait, LMSW.  This month's meeting is at University Medical Center, Room 2117,  1:00 p.m. to 3:30 pm.

Please join us for lunch in the cafeteria before the meeting. If this is your first meeting or you need assistance to find the meeting room please call Beth at 820-4488.

The Family History Society of Arizona's Seminar being held March 15, 2014, features Jean Wilcox Hibben. A Board-Certified genealogist, Jean is the Director of the Corona California Family History Center and is also an occasional volunteer at the Pacific Region Facility of the National Archives in Riverside County. She was the lead researcher for the PBS television program Genealogy Roadshow. Jean is a national speaker known for her entertaining, as well as informative, presentations and is a frequent writer for various genealogy publications.
Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm with registration beginning at 8:00 am.

Location: First United Methodist Church 5510 N Central, Phoenix, AZ 85012. Cost: $35.00 for FHSA members, $40 for non-members/walk-ins ($5 applied to $20 annual membership dues if you join). Free Classes at the Family History Center

Did you miss the "Family History in the 21st Century" Fair on January 25th? Did you want to take one of the classes again? Did you have to give up attending one class because it was presented at the same time another class was presented? You're in luck!

Many of the classes that were presented at the fair will be repeated at the Family History Center at 500 S. Langley, over the next few months. A schedule of the classes and the handouts are available online by clicking here. The first class is tomorrow at 1 p.m.

Pre-registration is required. If there are not more than two people signed up a couple of days before the class date, the class will be cancelled. You may register by calling 298-0905.

ATTENTION MEMBERS: DNA SIG This Saturday, February 8, 1-3 PM

DNA SIG This Saturday, February 8, 1-3 PM UMC Room 2500D off the south end of the cafeteria. 

You will hear Karen Zander speak on "Tips and Resources for Finding Unknown Ancestors using Autosomal DNA."
You will appreciate a new viewpoint and different ideas, all directed to tracking down your relatives with DNA. Time for questions too. Bring your kit numbers and passwords, and as time permits, Karen will assist you. A handout for this SIG has been  emailed to all current PCGS members.
