Google - Useful search techniques

In our beginning class today we discussed a few techniques to get more from a Google
search, here are two of my favorites.

The ~ included in a Google search will search for similar words to the keyword.

For example:  poundstone ~genealogy

the above search will search genealogy, family, ancestry, family tree, genealogical,
genealogical records, records, roots, surname, vital records. etc - all the words
 similar to genealogy.

- will exclude information

For example:   poundstone ~genealogy -paula

the above will exclude Paula from the search

Try these techniques on your next Google search!
