Lisa Alzo Speaker for Family History Society of Arizona Seminar March 7th

On Saturday, March 7, 2015, the Family History Society of Arizona (FHSA) will hold our Annual Meeting and Seminar in Fountain Hills, Arizona. The speaker will be Lisa Alzo, who will present topics of interest to family history researchers. This event will be held at the Fountain Hills Community Center, 13001 N. La Montana Dr. Fountain Hills, AZ. Cost is $35.00 for members $40.00 for non members. (includes box lunch)  Ms Alzo will also speak on Friday evening, March 6 at the Granite Reef Senior Center in Scottsdale. The address is 1700 N Granite Reef Road, Scottsdale, AZ. Our January meeting will be on  Saturday, January 17th .  We will be meeting in our normal room 2117 in the Medical College which is located at the University Medical Center, 1501 N Campbell.  The meeting begins at 1:00 p.m.




As usual some of our members will be meeting in the cafeteria for lunch prior to the meeting.  Folks usually arrive for lunch around 11:30 to 12.

Tucson Family History Fair January 31, 2015

The tentative schedule for the 2015 Family History Fair can be found on the Tucson Arizona Family History Center wiki site by clicking here.

The Fair will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6901 E. Kenyon (near Broadway and Kolb). There will be a break for lunch on your own (tables will be available) and snacks and water will be provided throughout the day. Interesting displays will be open during breaks and lunch. There is no charge for this event.

This year's line-up includes five hour-long classes running simultaneously from 8:30am to 3:10pm with a 70 minute break for lunch. Our most popular classes from previous years are updated and will be presented again. There are also several new classes including Introduction to DNA and Using Evernote for Research.

As in years past, the handouts for the classes will be available on the Tucson Arizona Family History Center wiki as we draw closer to the event. Please print the handouts and bring them to class.

Legacy Family Tree Tucson Users Group Meets Saturday, January 10

The Legacy Tucson Users Group is meeting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 10, at the Family History Center, 500 S. Langley. The meeting is open to the public.

This month’s topic is Tips for Merging Files. The presentation will be followed by open discussions where we can all share something new that we may have learned about Legacy Family Tree or try to work out solutions to questions that we might have. RootsMagic SIG 10-noon Jan 3, 2014

Join us for the RootsMagic Special Interest Group, Saturday Jan 3.  We will be meeting in Dining Room D off the Cafeteria at the University of Arizona Medical Center.  We will learn to export a gedcom, import a gedcom, and compare two databases in this session.

PCGS Members: DNA Special Interest Group Meets Saturday December 6th

DNA SIG meets this coming Saturday, December 6, from 1-3 PM in a new location, UMC Room 2406. The subject will be “How DNA confirms my paper trail medieval lineage back to 450 AD” with the sources I used. Also if you need help exploring your DNA, bring your kit number and password and see what we can find.  Seating limited to 30.   Paul Duffey

1.     Enter main door of Hospital at top of horseshoe drive.

2.     You are facing a wall of square glass bricks – turn left.

3.     Jog a slight left into the hallway.

4.     Pass the pharmacy.

5.     Go through the last door on the right before the

double glass door exit. This is 115 feet or 42 man paces from the front door.

6.     Enter the first room on the left 2406.
