Pull out your magnifying glass and put on your detective hat! This months meeting will show you How to Uncover Hidden Clues in Photos,Presented by Sherri Hessick and Jodi Strait, this program promises to give you new insight to old photos.   We will meet from 1:00PM-3:00PM in our usual location:

 University Medical Center, College of Medicine, Room 2117.

Enter the Medical Central from Campbell Avenue -- in front of the Main Hospital

Turn left at the first side street

Turn right into the Parking Garage Entrance – parking is free on Saturdays

Turn right into the Patient/Visitor Underground Parking Garage

Take the elevator at the northwest end of the garage to the 4^th floor

Enter the Hospital through the main doors

Go to the hallway just past the elevators

Turn left and go almost to the double doors exiting the building

Turn right and before you would enter the Library, turn left at the double doors

Room 2117 is at the far south end of that hallway

2.  South Parking Lot

Park in the Lot just south of the College of Nursing and Pharmacy

Go north through the middle of the two college buildings until you get to the double glass doors to enter the College of Medicine

Turn left (west) after you enter the building until just before the Library

The March meeting is going to be really fun, especially if we all dress up a little like the 1940s. I promised I would send some examples. Here are some links of websites with pictures of clothing, hairstyles, hats, etc. for both men and women in the 1940s. I didn’t bother with shoes since that would be a little more difficult to come up with without spending a bunch of money.

I sorted the links by the type of item (i.e. clothing, hair, etc.) with a little explanation of what it holds. At the bottom, I provided the links again, but just the links, and sorted by gender, mostly so the men won’t have to weed through the verbiage about the women’s styles and vice-versa.

There are also tons of Youtube videos on how to fix the hair (both men and women) and more of the clothing, etc. You can always Google it and see what you come up with in addition to all the below.

CLOTHING

Women wore below the knee, flared skirts and shoulder pads. Leg makeup and line drawn down the back of the leg to simulate the seam. See Patterns and Images from 1940-1949 http://sensibility.com/vintageimages/1940s/.

Men wore suits or military uniforms. Seems they still wore the zoot suit in early 1940s, carried over from 1930s, but also pin-stripe suits. HAIR

HEAD ACCESSORIES

Men also wore hats, mostly wide-brimmed fedoras. And, of course, they also had a pipe.

MAKEUP
